Manchester City fans still don’t know whether Pep Guardiola will be in charge next season.
There has already been plenty of speculation about the Manchester City manager, who has entered into the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola is in his ninth season as manager, and some have wondered whether he will stay on for one last season to take his tenure up to 10 years.
It was claimed recently that Guardiola extending by one year would be the most likely scenario. But it remains to be seen what will happen, and whether the ongoing legal case with the 115 charges will have any bearing on the Spaniard’s future.
Certainly, the overwhelming majority of City fans hope that Guardiola does indeed extend his stay.
But seemingly, that is not a feeling shared by everyone internally.
Some Man City executives don’t want Pep Guardiola to extend his contract by one year

Today, a very bold claim has been made by Football Transfers about Pep Guardiola and the feelings of some behind the scenes at Manchester City.
According to the publication, there are currently some executives who have reservations about Guardiola extending his contract by a year.
This is apparently because they feel ‘a short-term renewal would only delay the inevitable overhaul that City need’.
It is added that ‘many inside the club believe that without a manager committed to a long-term vision, there’s a risk of leaving this transition too late’.
Furthermore, it is claimed that some officials are debating whether to encourage Guardiola to stay on for a longer period, in order to help the club ‘guide the rebuilding process’, or step aside for a new man to come in next summer.
Guardiola will decide what happens at Man City
This is quite a bold claim, but whether some officials are not on board with Guardiola extending by one year or not, Guardiola will decide what happens.
Ultimately, he has earned the right to decide when he wants to go out.
He may well want to extend his contract by one year. City are surely not about to turn around and say no if that’s what he proposes.
Pep Guardiola managerial record for Manchester City
Games managed – 488
Wins – 353
Draws – 70
Losses – 65
Goals scored – 1198
Goals conceded – 405
Trophies won – 18
Guardiola is potentially the greatest manager to ever do it. With his current deal expiring next summer, it must surely be seen as a bonus if he wants to stay for one more year.
One more year in charge is surely enough time for City to sort out who his successor will be, and Guardiola can also help set things up for the future before he departs. Unless, of course, he turns around and decides to stay on even longer.
