When might Manchester City be punished? Many have been asking on Google after Everton were hit with a points deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Manchester City currently find themselves up against 115 charges for financial breaches, which the Premier League levelled against the treble winners back in February.

So, after Everton were dealt with by the Premier League, many have wondered when Manchester City could also be disciplined.

So, when might Manchester City be punished? Let’s take a look…

When might Manchester City be punished?

Well – in comparison to Everton’s case – there is a lot more to get through in regards to Manchester City’s situation.

As mentioned by Nick Harris on The Rest Is Football podcast, a commission has been appointed to analyse the charges, but those involved are yet to do so as Manchester City continue to protest their innocence.

According to leading barrister Nick De Marco KC, it could even take four years until an outcome on Manchester City’s situation occurs.

As quoted by the business-focused outlet City AM, the 56-year-old said: “Given the parties involved, given there are 115 charges, given that some of the charges are alleging things akin to fraud and dishonesty, given the lawyers and legal teams involved, I do not believe that this is going to be wrapped up in anything less than two to four years’ time. I think that’s impossible, and I don’t think anyone reasonably is arguing otherwise.”

Therefore, Manchester City could continue to hoover up silverware and purchase the greatest players on the planet up until 2027 until any action is actually taken.

Even then, in the event that Manchester City are actually found guilty, the Citizens could then possibly lodge an appeal, dragging the process out further.

In that respect, nobody should expect to see a verdict made on Manchester City’s 115 charges anytime soon – to say the very least.
