Erling Haaland blew the whole footballing world away during his debut season at Manchester City.
If not already, the imposing Norwegian striker – who signed for the Etihad Stadium outfit in 2022 for a fee of £51m from Borussia Dortmund – confirmed himself as the deadliest striker on the planet.
He scored 52 goals in 53 games for City as the club won the continental Treble for the first time in their history and broke all kinds of records across the 2022/23 season, as many as 26 but possibly even more.
Highlights include scoring the most goals in a single Premier League campaign (36) and the fastest player to net 10, 20 and 25 Premier League goals in the history of the competition.
We know Haaland is a player born to score goals with his incredible finishing ability. But what about his stats, his family, his bizarre diet plan and much more?

Erling Haaland age
Haaland was born on July 21, 2000, in Leeds, England. His father Alfie Haaland was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League at the time.
As of August 2024, Haaland is 24 years old.
Erling Haaland height & weight
Haaland is 6 feet 4 inches (194 cm) tall. The Man City forward’s height acts as a huge advantage for him aerially against the toughest defenders in the world.
According to his official EA Sports FC 24 stats, the Norwegian weighs in at 94 kilograms (14.8 stone). Haaland told AS that between January 2020 and May 2021, he underwent an extreme physical transformation.
He said: “If you look at my body, if you look at my legs, you will see that I have changed a lot. I am completely different. I have become a real man. I have become faster.
“That is one of the most important things. I have gone from 86 kilos to 94, but it is not a beer belly, it is about gross muscle mass. I take great care of what I eat.”
Erling Haaland diet plan
Speaking of what Erling Haaland eats, the striker revealed on a Viaplay documentary titled ‘Haaland – The Big Decision’ that he has a very unconventional diet that helps deliver peak performances on the pitch.
Iron-rich cow heart and cow liver are just some of the dishes Haaland eats as part of his diet plan. He said: “You (other people) don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body.
“I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. People say meat is bad, but… which meat? Which one? The meat you buy at McDonald’s? Or the local cow that eats grass right there? I eat the heart and liver.”
The aforementioned documentary also revealed Haaland enjoys eating a homemade lasagne made by his dad Alfie on matchday minus one.
As mentioned in AP Football Nutrition, Haaland consumes a whopping 4,500 to 6,000 calories per day and much of that contains vitamins and nutrients such as iron, riboflavin, vitamin B12, vitamin A and copper.
To put things into perspective, the NHS recommends a daily calorie intake of 2,500 for the average man. So Haaland is eating more than two times that.
Erling Haaland’s dad Alfie
Erling Haaland’s father is former professional footballer Alf-Inge Haaland. Alfie played as a midfielder and right-back for Bryne FK, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Man City between 1989 and 2003.
He played 38 games for City towards the end of his career and would earn 34 caps for the Norway international football team.
Of course, Alfie is renowned for being Erling’s father but he is also well known for the tackle he was victim to committed by former Manchester United captain Roy Keane in April 2001.
The challenge was in a game against City and United and Keane was sent off for the challenge which saw Haaland brutally kicked high on his right knee and thigh area.
The tackle effectively ended Haaland’s career as he failed to fully recover from it. He would eventually retire in the summer of 2003.
Keane admitted in his 2002 autobiography that the tackle was pre-meditated and an act of revenge for what Haaland had said to him during a Leeds vs United game in 1997.
Keane tried to tackle Haaland inside the box but ended up injuring himself instead, namely rupturing his ACL in his knee. Haaland would approach Keane on the ground seconds later and reportedly moaned at him for faking an injury.
Four years later, Keane stood over Haaland after his shocking tackle on the Norwegian and said, as quoted in his book: “Don’t ever stand over me again sneering about fake injuries. And tell your pal (David) Wetherall there’s some for him as well.”
Erling Haaland girlfriend
Back to Erling Haaland and his girlfriend, who is Isabel Haugseng Johansen.
She is a 20-year-old footballer for her local Norwegian side Bryne Fotballklubb and also works as a part-time fashion store assistant, according to The Metro.
The pair have known each other since they were kids at the Bryne football academy and were long-time friends, according to The Sun. But Haaland and Johansen would then enter into a relationship whilst the striker was playing with Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian couple have been spotted together on a handful of occasions but most prominently on the pitch after Man City’s 1-0 against Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League Final.
Erling Haaland salary & contract
According to Spotrac, Haaland earns a whopping weekly wage of £375,000 at Manchester City. That equals a yearly salary of £19.5m before tax.
His current contract at the Etihad Stadium giants will expire at the end of the 2026/27 season. Haaland is the second-highest-paid player at City behind teammate Kevin De Bruyne (£400,000 per week).

Erling Haaland release clause
Haaland initially had a release clause in his City contract worth £150m and would have been activated in the summer of 2024 if a club outside of the Premier League met the price.
But according to The Athletic, that release clause was removed from Haaland’s contract after manager Pep Guardiola signed a new contract with the Citizens in November 2022.
