Why Guardiola was left shocked in the 60th minute of RB Leipzig 1-3 Manchester City last night

Pep Guardiola watched his Manchester City side make it two wins from two in the UEFA Champions League last night with a 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

The Spaniard seemed to be impressed with his treble winners, describing everyone as “perfect” after full-time.

However, there was one incident which left Pep Guardiola shocked in the 60th minute of Manchester City‘s win…

What’s the story?

Well, the 52-year-old was bizarrely told off by officials after trying to prevent a clash between Rico Lewis and Xavi Simons.

Guardiola stepped in as tensions between the Manchester City No.82 and the Netherlands international looked set to boil over.

While most officials would be grateful to see someone diffuse the situation, the Santpedor-born tactician was instead given a telling off, which left him stunned on the touchline.

Hopefully, Guardiola simply doesn’t bother next time, and lets the officials sort it out – after all, it’s their job to step in and diffuse tense situations, not his.

We simply cannot understand why the Manchester City boss was told off – rather than praised – for his actions.

Guardiola will still have a bone to pick with his side after RB Leipzig 1-3 Manchester City

As aforesaid, Guardiola described his team as “perfect” after the win over RB Leipzig.

However – in our view at least – there will still be plenty the Spaniard wants to work on following the victory inside the Red Bull Arena, as he is a true perfectionist.

For a start, Manchester City conceded once again. The Citizens have only kept three clean sheets in 12 games across all competitions so far this season, which will surely concern Guardiola.

Of course, the absence of John Stones has been a huge loss for Manchester City, and their defensive record will hopefully improve when the England international returns to the starting XI.

Hopefully, Guardiola’s side can keep a string of clean sheets throughout the upcoming fixtures.
