Why Jack Grealish was visibly annoyed with Phil Foden in 75th minute of Man City draw on Saturday

Jack Grealish and Phil Foden were both heavily involved as Manchester City drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Manchester City No.10 opened the scoring after a fine assist from the City Football Academy graduate, who then ended up giving away a 95th minute penalty with a wild swing of the boot to make it 2-2.

However, something Phil Foden did before that in the 75th minute was seen to frustrate Jack Grealish

What Phil Foden did to annoy Jack Grealish

Well – as spotted by The Athletic – the England international was annoyed at the Manchester City No.47 for not closing down Marc Guehi.

Grealish could be seen pointing towards the Crystal Palace No.6 and shouting at Foden to press him.

Guehi remained unopposed and was allowed to pick out a lofted pass to Jeffrey Schlupp, who raced through and assisted Jean-Philippe Mateta to make it 2-1.

Of course, the treble winners then lost two points after the Frenchman won a late penalty off Foden, which was converted by Michael Olise – who Manchester City monitored in the summer.

2-2 Manchester City draw summed up Phil Foden

If there was ever a game to sum Foden up, this would probably be it.

The 23-year-old is a remarkably talented footballer, although there are still said to be some concerns.

A story from The Athletic claimed that Pep Guardiola feels Foden switches off too much to play in central midfield, while there are also doubts about his focus when tracking runners.

The Stockport-born maestro certainly switched off when swiping at Mateta on Saturday, although for most of the afternoon, he ran the game, pulling strings and making things happen going forward.

Hopefully, Foden can remove the occasional lapses of concentration from his game, and become a more trusted player for both club and country.
