Manchester City have been drawn to face Huddersfield in the FA Cup third round on Sunday 7th November.
The Citizens will be attempting to defend the FA Cup – which was secured thanks to a win over Manchester United at Wembley back in June – although this third round clash has not been selected for broadcast.
So, what does that mean for Manchester City and Huddersfield? Let’s take a look…
Manchester City vs Huddersfield not selected for TV
Well, the FA Cup third round clash at the Etihad Stadium will not be screened in the UK – despite the fact several other games have been chosen by the BBC and ITV.
You can see which matches have been selected below.
- Crystal Palace vs Everton (Thursday 4th January)
- Tottenham vs Burnley (Friday 5th January)
- Sunderland vs Newcastle (Saturday 6th January)
- Middlesbrough vs Aston Villa (Saturday 6th January)
- Arsenal vs Liverpool (Sunday 7th January)
- Wigan vs Manchester United (Monday 8th January)
Those who will be shown on TV are set to receive an £85,000 live broadcast fee in addition to any payment from the FA Cup’s prize money pot – as confirmed on the FA’s official website.
Therefore, Manchester City and Huddersfield will miss out on this payment.

While that surely won’t concern the treble winners – who earned £712m in revenue last season – it is a blow for the Terriers, who have struggled financially since dropping out of the Premier League in 2019.
Manchester City will be earning at least £1.6m from the FIFA Club World Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia later this month anyway – with a total of £4m up for grabs.

Therefore, this £85,000 payment is a mere drop in the ocean for those at the Etihad Stadium.
Hopefully, Guardiola’s side can conquer Huddersfield at the start of 2024 and successfully defend the FA Cup this season.
