Well, it is said that the Manchester City No.47 found himself surrounded by “upheaval behind the scenes” regarding who represents him at one point.
Manchester City were also worried about outside distractions affecting Foden, with the Citizens said to be fearful about the 23-year-old losing focus.
Now – however – the England international has put those doubts to bed.
The Stockport-born maestro is currently enjoying another strong campaign after playing a key role in last season’s historic treble.
Foden impressively scored 15 goals in 48 appearances as Manchester City won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.
In 18 games so far this term, the City Football Academy graduate has scored five goals and provided four assists, while also winning the UEFA Super Cup.
The Telegraph add that Manchester City now hold a lot of excitement in regards to what is to come from Foden across the next 12 to 18 months, which is understandable given his superb efforts in 2023 so far.
Phil Foden still has work to do at Manchester City
As talented as Foden is, he still has things to work on at the Etihad Stadium.
For example, the 23-year-old must improve his concentration when pressing opponents, and also tracking runners.
That is according to The Athletic, who relayed what sources close to Guardiola told them about why Foden rarely features centrally for Manchester City or England.
Nevertheless, that will surely come with time, and it should not cloud the many things Foden is already exceptionally brilliant at doing.
With Guardiola coaching him on a daily basis, the sky is the limit for the boy from Stockport.
