Nick Harris has now shared why the investigation involving Manchester City has taken so long in comparison to the financial situation regarding Everton.
The journalist for Sporting Intelligence sat down with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer to discuss the differences between Manchester City and Everton in this particular situation.
So, what was said about Manchester City and Everton? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, after the Toffees were hit with a 10-point deduction by the Premier League following breaches of financial rules, many have asked why Manchester City’s 115 charges are taking so long to explore.
Everton themselves even suggested they will be pushing the Premier League for an answer on that case, writing in an official statement: “The Club will also monitor with great interest the decisions made in any other cases concerning the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.”
Now, Harris has shed some light on the differences between Manchester City and Everton in this instance.

He said: “The Manchester City case is extraordinary in its own way, because they had 115 charges levelled against them by the Premier League back in February this year. That was after four years of investigation. The Premier League started looking at that case at the back end of 2018… there could be a whole separate podcast on what’s happened with Man City and why has it taken so long to get to the point of even having a commission sitting down and examining the evidence.
“We’re not even there yet with that. The commission has been appointed but Manchester City are still challenging whether the Premier League actually have the right to levy these charges against them.”
Difference between Everton and Manchester City
Effectively, Everton helped to cooperate with the Premier League and admitted wrongdoing, which sped the process up significantly.

Manchester City – on the other hand – insist that no rules were broken, and continue to plead innocence.
There is also simply just a lot to examine when it comes to Manchester City’s situation, which is far more complex than Everton’s case – as Simon Jordan recently mentioned on talkSPORT.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Everton will surely pester the Premier League for a decision on Manchester City’s 115 charges after Sean Dyche saw his side hit with a points deduction.
