Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared his response to the news of Jurgen Klopp’s upcoming departure from Liverpool.
On Friday, it was announced that Klopp will be leaving his role as Liverpool’s manager at the end of the season.
After seeing his side beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the FA Cup last night, Guardiola was asked for his reaction and thoughts on this monumental news.
Guardiola drops Klopp verdict

In response, the City boss had this to say about Klopp and his big news.
He said: “I will sleep better. The days before playing against Liverpool were almost a nightmare. Of course he will be missed.
“I was shocked, like everyone, to the news. I felt a part of Man City would be lost. We can’t define our period here together without him and with Liverpool – it is impossible. They have been our biggest rival and personally he has been my biggest rival from when he was at Dortmund and I was at Bayern.
“I think the Premier League is going to miss his charisma, personality and the way his teams play. They have always been a pleasure to watch them and how positive they are in their approach. They try to win every game. I wish him all the best.
“Liverpool is always tough. It will be tougher from now on, but maybe it is an opinion he will not admit, but he will be back. I know it. Maybe in 10 years time, he may need to recharge his energy. With his personality and energy, he will be back. National team, other team I don’t know, but football needs personalities like him.
“It was a dream when we were together and hopefully next season we can have time to go to dinner together or a drink that we deserve to take.”
Having faced off against Klopp on 29 occasions, more than any other manager he’s come up against, Guardiola has won 11, drawn six and lost 12.
This highlights the significant rivalry the two managers have been involved in and how even the results have been, making it such an intriguing one as well.
In this current Premier League season, Liverpool currently find themselves five points ahead of City at the top of the table, although the Manchester club have a game in hand.
Now that Klopp has announced that this will be his final season at Anfield, we feel that this will make Liverpool a tougher outfit to overcome as their players will undeniably want to send their manager off in the most successful way possible.
