Paul Merson has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Everton.
Monday night saw Pep Guardiola’s side do what they were unable to last season and beat Brentford away from home.
After walking away with three points from a 3-1 scoreline on Monday, the Citizens are now gearing up for their next league outing against Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
Looking ahead to this game on Saturday, one pundit has shared his verdict on how it could go.
Merson drops City prediction for Everton clash

Written in his latest article for Sportskeeda where he previewed all of this weekend’s Premier League matches, Merson had this to say about City’s upcoming clash against the Toffees.
He said: “Everton will make it hard for teams despite their position in the league table, but I can’t see anything but a Manchester City win and that will take them to the top of the Premier League standings.
“They’ve won nine successive games across all competitions and have started to do what they do best during the second half of the campaign – winning games and going on a run.”
Even though City have played one game fewer than Sean Dyche’s side, the Manchester club are currently 30 points and 16 places ahead of Everton in the league table.
In addition to that, the Citizens have scored 28 more goals than the Toffees, which makes it easy to see why Merson thinks a home win is the more likely outcome for Saturday’s game.
However, with Everton only conceding five more goals than City have this season and having come back from behind twice to draw 2-2 in their previous league game against Tottenham Hotspur, this suggests to us that they could end up being a stubborn side for the home team to come out victorious against.
Taking into account how a victory would see City go top of the table until Liverpool play and potentially leapfrog them, it’s safe to say that everyone connected to the club will only be focused on getting three points once again.
