Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

After drawing 0-0 against Arsenal on Sunday, the Blues are back in action once again at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday with a clash against Villa.

Looking ahead to what is another key game in the race for the title, one pundit has shared his thoughts on how this match could pan out for the Citizens.

In his latest column for BBC Sport where he previewed and predicted the scores for all of the midweek Premier League fixtures, Sutton had this to say about City’s match against Unai Emery’s side.

He said: “It doesn’t matter who gets the goals against Aston Villa, but City cannot allow the gap to leaders Liverpool to get any bigger than three points.

“Villa will make it tough for them and carry plenty of attacking threat themselves, but this is a must-win for Pep Guardiola’s side… and I think they will win. 2-1.”

As things stand, City are one place and five points ahead of the Villans in the league table.

While the Midlands club have played one more league game than the Blues, they have scored one goal fewer but conceded 14 more than the Treble winners.

Despite that, Villa were the last team to beat Guardiola’s side as they secured a 1-0 win over the Champions back in December at Villa Park.

Since then, Emery’s side have won eight, drawn three and lost four of their following league games.

Taking into account how Villa are currently chasing a top-four finish and will be heading into tomorrow’s game with the confidence of having beaten City previously, we agree with Sutton that this could be a very tough contest for the home side.

However, with the Premier League title on the line, this should push the City players to do all they can to overcome their upcoming opponents and keep themselves in the frame to regain their title.
