Manchester City see handfuls of players move in and out of the club every year.
City’s sporting director usually handles transfer deals, although it was recently reported that Txiki Begiristain will be stepping down at the end of the season.
Following reports that City had agreed a deal to see Hugo Viana replace Begiristain, the soon-to-be ex-Sporting CP director will eventually be in charge of the Manchester club’s transfers.
During Begiristain’s tenure at the Etihad Stadium, multiple players have secured transfer deals to either join or leave the club.
Now though, a journalist has claimed that one player who brought an end to his time at City some years ago would now relish the chance to make a return.

Journalist suggests Jamie Gittens would love to join City
Speaking to Caught Offside, journalist Christian Falk shared this insight into the current situation of Borussia Dortmund and England U21 winger Jamie Gittens and the possibility of him joining a Premier League side in the future.
He said: “Jamie Gittens is certainly no different, but he has his price.
“Dortmund won’t sell him in the winter, but if a Premier League club is willing to pay €100m [£83m], they will open negotiations and let Gittens go if he wishes to.
“Otherwise, they’ll wait and keep educating him with the goal of increasing his asking price.
“He’s currently contracted until 2028 without a release clause. I don’t know if he’s worth €100m right at this moment, but otherwise, he has to play another season at Dortmund next year and prove that he is!
“If you previously played in England, you always want to go back and prove you’re good enough to play in the Premier League and just made a step in between.
“Jude Bellingham would have also returned to England had Real Madrid not been in the picture. If you go to Dortmund, you always know this isn’t the final step in your career. That’s why players like Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland joined BVB.
“Gittens would be dreaming of going to a club like Liverpool and Manchester City – but he’s not cheap!”
Who is Jamie Gittens?
Back in the 2018 summer transfer window, Gittens joined City’s academy from Reading’s youth ranks.
Just over two years later, he joined Dortmund as part of their U19 side, making 20 youth appearances before becoming a regular figure in the German club’s senior team.
With 68 first-team appearances under his belt for his current side, Gittens has scored nine goals and delivered 12 assists.
Four of those goals and three of those assists have come in the nine appearances he’s made across the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season.
Even though City have several wingers in their current squad, it’ll be interesting to see if Viana looks to make Gittens one of his first signings as the Manchester club’s new sporting director in the summer or beyond.
