Romano has further stated that an agreement involving Wilson-Esbrand also looks like it will be completed.
The English left-back is considered as a ‘bright talent’ by both City and Coventry, according to the Italian journalist as well.
Perfect opportunity for ‘JWE’ to develop
When the news broke out about Josh Wilson-Esbrand heading to Coventry on loan, naturally, a chunk of Man City fans were surprised to see the youngster not be handed a chance to develop at a Premier League side.
However, it is key to note that even some of the club’s most prodigious talents such as James McAtee, Liam Delap and Taylor Harwood-Bellis are playing in the lower tiers of English football on loan.
Keeping that in mind, it makes complete sense why Wilson-Esbrand was also tasked with developing in the Championship.
Currently, Man City have arguably the finest left-back in the world in Joao Cancelo.
Also, Nathan Ake seems to have clearly impressed Pep Guardiola, as he has been used in an unnatural position on plenty of occasions since the return of club football.
While Sergio Gomez is a natural attacking player, his stint at RSC Anderlecht coupled with possessing a similar profile to Oleksandr Zinchenko makes him one for the near future.
As a result, a loan for Josh Wilson-Esbrand always seemed to be on the cards, and Championship teams like Coventry have often been the breeding grounds for talented youngsters to hit new levels.
The same could be the case for Wilson-Esbrand if he instantly impresses, and considering the 20-year-old is a traditional, overlapping left-back, he could get a run in the Man City first-team sooner than many think.
