Pep Guardiola recently complimented Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes, and the midfielder has now hailed the Manchester City manager right back.

Fernandes has given an interview while out on duty with the Portugal national team, ahead of games against Sweden and Slovenia.

The friendly matches will give Roberto Martinez a chance to further assess his squad, and try a few things out ahead of Euro 2024.

Fernandes is there along with Manchester City stars Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes and loanee Joao Cancelo.

Ahead of the game with Sweden, Fernandes gave a glowing verdict on City manager Pep Guardiola, after the Spaniard’s recent comments were put to him…

Ahead of the recent Manchester Derby, Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Bruno Fernandes.

He had said: “He is an exceptional player. Especially the consistency to play in every single game and in every single competition.

“I admire him a lot for that. He is a guy that when he has the ball, something is going to happen. In set pieces, in connections with players up front with [Alejandro] Garnacho, with Rashford, all the strikers they have up there. What can I say, he is a really, really important player.”

Fernandes had the opportunity to reply to these remarks from Pep, as he sat down for an interview with A Bola.

They asked him to guess who had said ‘When Bruno has the ball you know something is going to happen’ about him. Initially, Fernandes thought it was Roberto Martinez, but after being told it was Pep, the 29-year-old gushed: “We’re talking about the best coach in the world, without a doubt. In recent years, he has been the best coach in the world.

“He is probably the coach who has changed the football played the most. Nowadays, everyone wants to be Guardiola, there’s no hiding that. Every team, from the second to the top flights, everyone tries to play like City and everyone tries to find the dynamics that City have, because they have results and success.

“For me, to have praise from a coach like Guardiola is something spectacular, because, as I said, we are talking about a coach that I appreciate a lot and who, for me, to this day, is the best coach in the world.”

Fernandes’ remarks come after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also branded Pep the best coach in the world.

Fernandes knows

Despite being from the red side of Manchester, Bruno Fernandes clearly knows the score.

There is simply no better football manager than Pep Guardiola and Bruno Fernandes is spot on with what he says.

You need only look at how many teams have tried to emulate what the £378,000-a-week man has done at the Etihad, in terms of the way City play, some of the systems he deploys, and how he improves players and turns them into top-class stars.

He is a trailblazer, and obviously, his methods are highly successful when you look at his trophy haul. He is constantly reinventing and experimenting, and it is truly remarkable to watch such a genius at work.
