Les Ferdinand has said that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, he gave his two cents on the idea of the Spaniard replacing Gareth Southgate as the future England manager.
Les Ferdinand not only backs Pep Guardiola to succeed in the role, if he were to leave Manchester City to do so but also believes that no other coach is in the same league as him.
Les Ferdinand says Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Manchester Evening News, the Catalan tactician is the greatest coach of all time to many already.
Season after season, Guardiola has turned his biggest critics into his fans as his success speaks for itself.
As Tim Sherwood referred to Pep Guardiola as the ‘best in the world’, Les Ferdinand agreed and analysed the prospect of why he would be a cracking fit for the England job.

“Yeah, he is, without a shadow of a doubt. But I think we have a group of players that are on the front foot. When you look at our attacking options, I think we’re a match for any team in world football. Defensively, I think we struggle if we’re going to go defensive, which we have done, we’re going to get punished”, he said.
“So, I think, take that away, keep the ball. That’s what Man City do, they keep the ball.”
Unlikely that Pep Guardiola does not see out his contract at Manchester City
While Les Ferdinand has a point, the prospect of Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City to replace Gareth Southgate in 2024 seems highly unlikely.
The former Bayern Munich manager’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2025.
Considering Guardiola is in no danger of being sacked anytime soon and his well-known tight-knit bond with the higher-ups at the club, it would emerge as a shock if he left City with a year left on his deal to manage any other team in the world.
