The Premier League has seen a plethora of top midfielders play for a range of clubs since its inception back in the early 1990s.
One of the most iconic midfielders of the Premier League era is Roy Keane, who won multiple titles across the 475 games he played in for Manchester United across 12-and-a-half years.
Having been one of the first eight players to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame back in 2021, the Irishman is undoubtedly recognised as one of the best midfielders in top-flight history.
However, a current Premier League player has suggested that one midfielder who Manchester City fans will be very familiar with is actually better than the former United captain.

Mario Lemina ranks Fernandinho above Roy Keane
In a recent video shared on the official Wolves TikTok page, Mario Lemina was partaking in a challenge where he had to blind rank 10 former Premier League midfielders.
After putting Keane in ninth place, the Wolves star then went on to place Fernandinho in seventh.
Fernandinho was a top player for City
Back in the 2013 summer transfer window, City paid around £30m (via BBC Sport) to sign Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk.
During his nine-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, the Brazilian scored 26 goals and delivered 31 assists in 383 matches, winning five Premier League trophies along the way.
Even though Paul Dickov said back in January that Rodri had taken the role of a defensive-midfielder to a new level above the one Fernandinho played at the club, there’s no denying that the 39-year-old was a special player for the Manchester club.
Taking all of that into account, while the 39-year-old was a significant player for the Blues and had a big impact during his time at the club, it will probably surprise a lot of football fans that Lemina ranked Keane below him due to what he achieved at United.
