‘Wonderful’ £100k-a-week player deserves to be named Man City Player of the Month for September

September was a pretty decent month for Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side finished the month top of the Premier League, and also got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.

It wasn’t quite as flawless as August though.

Rodri’s sending off against Nottingham Forest meant he was unavailable for the games against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup, and last weekend’s game with Wolves in the Premier League.

City ended up narrowly losing both games without the Spaniard.

Overall though, it was a still a solid month of football.

The shortlist was recently formed for Player of the Month – and surely you can’t look past Julian Alvarez for the latest award…

Julian Alvarez deserves Player of the Month for September at Manchester City

City revealed yesterday that Alvarez, Ederson and Kyle Walker are the three nominees for Etihad Player of the Month.

As always, City fans will decide who wins via a vote through the club’s official website.

And hopefully Alvarez gets the acknowledgement he deserves.

The Argentina was simply a top performer for City last month.

Against Fulham at the start of the month, he got the opening goal and also won a penalty for City in a 5-0 win.

Against West Ham, Alvarez was really dangerous. He played in Jeremy Doku for the opener, and he then set up Bernardo Silva with a brilliant scooped ball over the defence, before Haaland wrapped up the game, with Alvarez being involved in the build up.

Against Red Star Belgrade, Alvarez came in clutch. With City 1-0 down at half-time, he scored a brilliant goal, rounding the goalkeeper, before his dangerous free-kick made its way into the back of the net.

£100,000-a-week star Alvarez was also on target in the defeat against Wolves. He scored a free-kick Kevin De Bruyne would have been proud of.

Ederson has been brilliant lately, and made some huge saves.

And Walker is playing better than ever at right-back.

But Alvarez made vital contributions to four victories in September. And he 100% deserves to be named Player of the Month.

He was so good, that Martin Keown recently compared him to Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

He has been absolutely superb as an attacking midfielder playing just off Haaland.

And he has been a big reason why not many people have actually mentioned De Bruyne of late.
