Premier League icon Jonathan Walters has now sent a message to Erling Haaland after the Manchester City No.9 scored on Saturday.
The Norway international netted his eighth Premier League goal of the season in just six appearances to put Manchester City 2-0 up against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
So, what did Jonathan Walters send to Erling Haaland after Manchester City‘s 2-0 win? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Norwegian has now surpassed the Irishman’s record of 43 Premier League goals, which he set in 233 appearances while playing for Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and Burnley.
Haaland’s 44 Premier League goals have remarkably come in just 41 appearances.
After hearing that the 23-year-old had already surpassed his tally, Walters jokingly wrote on Twitter: “Erling Haaland clearly came to the Premier League with high ambitions and records to break.
“At the weekend he officially passed my PL goal scoring record! If you can now match my two own goals in a match and overtake my consecutive PL appearances record…I will happily declare you as one of the Premier League greats. There is work to do big man.”

Walters remarkably set a record for most consecutive Premier League starts during his time at Stoke City, making 102 in a row from February 2nd 2011 to November 30th 2013.
Haaland will do well to match that record, especially as Pep Guardiola often rotates his attacking options and will want to rest his £51.5m talisman at times due to fixture congestion.
Haaland record for Manchester City is remarkable
For Haaland to have already notched 44 goals in just 41 Premier League appearances is simply phenomenal.

To put that into context, it means the Leeds-born striker has already outscored the likes of Aaron Lennon, Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, Peter Odemwingie and Shaun Wright-Phillips, forwards who spent a large amount of their prime in the Premier League.
Haaland’s scoring rate is truly exceptional, and we can’t see him slowing down anytime soon.
