It has been reported that Al-Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte was actually dreaming of either joining Barcelona or Real Madrid.
However, the £23.5 million (Reuters) man ended up signing for the Saudi giants instead, as he joins superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane.
However, Aymeric Laporte was especially keen on signing for either Barcelona or Real Madrid this summer, as per a report by The Athletic.
Al-Nassr new-boy Aymeric Laporte was dreaming of Barcelona or Real Madrid transfer
Branded as ‘world-class’ by Steph Houghton, many have wondered why a number of top European clubs did not queue up for the Spanish international.
Being a five-time Premier League as well as treble-winner, whilst having been a mainstay at City for the most part since his arrival in 2015, it was bizarre to see him not being requested to join a number of teams.
However, it has been revealed that from the point of view of Al-Nassr centre-back Aymeric Laporte, his dream destinations would have been either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old, neither of Spain’s ‘Big Two’ were particularly interested in making his return to La Liga a reality.
Surprising that neither club tried to snap Aymeric Laporte up
Al-Nassr will likely be buzzing to have signed a player of the calibre of Aymeric Laporte but it is puzzling why neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid did everything in their power to secure his services.
As terrific as the Spanish champions’ defence was last season, Laporte would simply stroll into their squad as their standout defender instantly, despite how gifted Araujo is.
From Los Blancos’ perspective, the decorated centre-half’s arrival would have been a huge help during a time when they have lost Eder Militao’s ACL injury.
Considering Aymeric Laporte’s incredible consistency, elite quality both on and off the ball, winning pedigree and invaluable experience, signing him would have been a guaranteed coup for any club.
