Reported Manchester City transfer target, Joshua Kimmich, could reportedly be leaving Bayern Munich before his current contract runs out.

The Manchester club were linked with a move for the 28-year-old just before the previous summer transfer window opened for business.

Even though no move was made for the midfielder, a big behind-the-scenes claim has now been made about the player and what his future could look like.

According to a recent report from journalist Christian Falk for Caught Offside, there is a possibility that Kimmich could leave Bayern in the near future, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Falk also mentioned that Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel is not fully convinced of Kimmich’s ability to play as a natural number six, whereas Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the player and the versatility he has.

Described as a “world-class” player by Hansi Flick, Kimmich has made 365 appearances for Bayern across all competitions, scoring 40 goals and delivering 100 assists along the way.

With 36 of those games coming under the management of Guardiola, the 28-year-old has an idea of what it takes to play for the Spaniard at a high level.

Across his 10 Bundesliga games this season, Kimmich has racked up more progressive passes (89) and passes into the final third of the pitch (83) than any other Bayern player, in addition to having the joint-highest number of successful tackles (13) in the squad.

This shows just how useful the player could be for City, on and off the ball, if he were to make a move to the Etihad Stadium in the near future.

Moving forward, if Kimmich were to end up leaving Bayern in one of the next transfer windows, we feel that City should do all they can to land a deal for him.
