Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has shared why he wouldn’t have been able to play under Pep Guardiola.
Throughout his playing career, the former Aston Villa star racked up 322 Premier League appearances, during which he scored 73 goals and delivered 50 assists.
This shows that he has a firm grasp of what it has been like to play in the top flight of English football for a significant period of time.
Now though, the pundit has been sharing his thoughts on the current Premier League landscape and how he may have been able to fit, or ot fit, in it as things stand.
Agbonlahor says he couldn’t play under Guardiola

In a recent Q&A with talkSPORT, Agbonlahor had this to say when asked which current manager he feels he wouldn’t have been able to play under.
He said: “Probably Pep because I had a touch-tackle didn’t I?
“My first touch wasn’t the best so maybe I wouldn’t have fitted Pep’s style because it’s a lot of one-twos and technical [football].
“He probably would’ve sacked me when he saw my kick-ups. I think Pep’s football probably wouldn’t have suited my game.”
City ended the previous Premier League campaign with more touches (29895), passes completed (23263) and a higher average of possession per 90 minutes (64.7%) than any other side in the division.
This shows how Guardiola’s style of play consists of seeing his players being comfortable in possession and being able to move the ball around the pitch accurately and consistently.

So if Agbonlahor sees his technical ability as not being one of his strengths, he’s probably correct in assuming that he wouldn’t have been able to play under the current City boss.
In fact, having failed to score more than nine goals in each of his six final Premier League campaigns, it could be said that he didn’t have the goalscoring prowess to be an effective attacking option for Guardiola.
