‘Wow, what a player’: Pundit says £300k-a-week Man City ‘wizard’ is just so good to watch live

Former Manchester City star Steve Howey has lavished praise on Bernardo Silva, and says the maestro is simply so good to watch live.

City won again yesterday in the Premier League, beating Bournemouth 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

It was a statement win by Pep Guardiola’s side, and made extra significant by Arsenal’s defeat to Newcastle United later in the day.

And it now puts the pressure on Tottenham Hotspur, who are in action against Chelsea on Monday night.

It was a thumping win against Bournemouth, and it was very much the Jeremy Doku show at the Etihad. The Belgian played a part in five out of the six goals, assisting four times.

He is just one of eight players in Premier League history to achieve that feat and he is now the youngest player ever in the competition to have five goal contributions or more in a game.

Someone else who really stood out yesterday for City was Bernardo, who scored twice, and Howey has raved over the Portuguese maestro…

Most of the talk from yesterday’s game has been about Doku, which is very understandable considering he made four assists and scored one goal.

But Bernardo was exceptional again for City, and not just because he grabbed a couple of goals.

That said, his second goal was absolutely beautiful, with Pep saying it was like something you would see from Lionel Messi.

Before Joleon Lescott likened him to David Silva, Howey lavished praise on Bernardo for that goal and his overall display.

He said on City’s Matchday Live show: “I have to say Bernardo Silva’s goal was just absolutely gorgeous to watch. For me, I think he’s a wizard anyway, I think he’s just a wonderful player anyway, but to watch him live and see how good he actually is. Just the composure he had and the sink over the goalkeeper.

“I just wish it had hit the back of the net, rather than the lad clearing it. But wow, what a player.”

Bernardo is a pleasure to watch play football

Bernardo has to be one of the most watchable players in world football.

The £300,000-a-week Portuguese maestro has incredible technical ability and his close control is better than the vast majority of players in the game today.

But Bernardo is also a workhorse. It is just as satisfying watching him track back to pinch the ball off an opponent as it is when he goes past someone.

It is so rare to have a player who is brilliant in all aspects of the game, and City are simply so lucky to have a player like this. He might have left last summer, and it was a serious boost that he stayed in the end.

He must be an absolute dream to play with and in the case of Pep Guardiola, manage.
