Some Manchester City fans have taken to X to react to speculation that manager Pep Guardiola has decided to include Rico Lewis in the starting lineup against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester City will face Arsenal away from home in the Premier League on Sunday.

Rodri is suspended for the match for City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season.

The Spain international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

It has been reported that City manager Pep Guardiola has decided to use Rico Lewis in midfield as a replacement for Rodri.

Rico Lewis could start for Manchester City vs Arsenal

It is likely that Lewis will start alongside Mateo Kovacic in defensive midfield for City.

Lewis can operate as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder.

The 18-year-old has made one start and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for City so far this season.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager told Sky Sports this week about the teenager: ”What a player! What a player!

“I’ve been a manager for 14, 15 years and lucky to train one of the best players in the world in Barcelona.

“To find a player like him playing in the pockets, how he has to move as a holding midfielder, moving in the spaces, he is one of the best I’ve ever trained by far.

“He’s a humble guy, doesn’t talk much. He didn’t play much this season but he is going to play a lot.”

Arsenal themselves have a very good and strong midfield department.

It will be interesting to see how Lewis does against Arsenal if indeed he starts at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
