Barcelona manager, Xavi, has said he would love to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva for the Spanish club.
The La Liga side have been linked with a move for Ilkay Gundogan over the past few weeks, with the German set to become a free agent at the end of the month when his current contract expires.
However, one important figure at Barcelona has started talking about potentially signing another one of City’s big players.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo (via Fabrizio Romano), Xavi had this to say when asked about Silva.
He said: “Yes, Bernardo was tempted by joining us last summer. It’s normal, players are always open to join Barca. Bernardo would be an excellent signing, obviously; that would be fantastic but he’s Man City player. It’s very difficult.”

The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Barcelona during the previous summer transfer window before deciding to continue his journey with City.
Having since gone on to feature in all but six of the Citizens’ matches across all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and delivering eight assists along the way, this shows how much of a positive it has been for City to still have the midfielder in their squad.
In fact, back in April, Guardiola described the Portuguese international as one of the best players he has managed throughout his career, which is incredibly high praise considering the quality names that have played under the Spaniard.
This makes it easy to see why Xavi would be over the moon to have the City star in his squad.
Moving forward, it’s safe to presume that everyone connected to the club will hope that Silva doesn’t get tempted to leave the Etihad this summer and continues with Guardiola’s side.
