Andy Morrison has said it must be impossible to play against Manchester City wideman Jeremy Doku after his sparkling cameo against Huddersfield Town.

The Sri Lanka manager lauded Doku’s performance on the Sky Blues’ official post-match show on their YouTube channel.

The 21-year-old struck a first-time finish to scoop Kevin De Bruyne’s cross with venom past Lee Nicholls to put the cherry on top of an electric display off the bench.

Andy Morrison says Jeremy Doku is virtually unstoppable after Manchester City batter Huddersfield

The £50,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man was brought on by Guardiola alongside his countryman, De Bruyne as he replaced Grealish on the left flank.

As Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku turned heads during his performance against Huddersfield, Andy Morrison highlighted why he must be such a nightmare to face.

“There’s specific qualities that a player has and world-class talent is someone who can change a game, and they bring something to the pitch. It can’t be stopped and you can’t stop [Jeremy] Doku! You can’t stop him one on one. If you don’t get the cover and if you get the cover, that means it’s going to be somewhere else that there’s an overload to play and if you get the one on one and he can go inside or outside, you’re dead because he’s that quick”, he said on City’s post-match show on their YouTube channel.

“He has this little feint that he does, I don’t know how he does it, I don’t think you [Paul Dickov] can do it”, Morrison joked.

After Manchester City tore Huddersfield to shreds, Andy Morrison admitted no player in the Premier League takes his breath away quite like Jeremy Doku.

“To make the defender stand and then he goes. It’s so exciting. As a centre-half who defended and Doku’s a player that excites me more than any other player, at the moment in the Premier League, I know they’ll stretch and it’s not just that.”

“He forces a defence, when it’s a tight unit, he frightens you, so he’s always wanting to go in behind, which then sets the backline back a couple of yards deeper than they normally would, which creates space for your Phil Foden’s and it’s invaluable, and it’s great to see the two of them back together again.”

Jeremy Doku was an instant threat on Sunday

As Andy Morrison explained, as soon as Jeremy Doku stepped foot on the pitch, he did what he does best to the Huddersfield defence by shimmying past the opposition players with his quick feet and burst of pace.

The youngster looked like he had not lost a step since suffering an untimely injury that interrupted his blockbuster start to life in Manchester.

Even aside from the goal, the injection of pace, directness and energy Doku added to proceedings on Sunday was a reminder of the weapon City have at their disposal.

As Manchester City prepare to face Newcastle United on Saturday, Jeremy Doku may have earned his place in the starting XI after reiterating what he is capable of against Darren Moore’s side.
