Throughout the 2022/23 season, Norwegian striker Erling Haaland had the whole world mesmerised by his sensational goalscoring ability for Manchester City.
Haaland arrived at the Etihad Stadium for £51m from Borussia Dortmund as part of Pep Guardiola’s summer 2022 recruitment drive, an absolute bargain considering what was to come.
He would break all kinds of club, Premier League and Champions League records almost every week as he catapulted City to Treble success at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy jointly held the previous record with 42 goals. Haaland would beat the record with his 43rd goal of the season against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
36 – Most Premier League goals scored in one season
Haaland became the first player ever to score 35 goals in one Premier League season after netting against West Ham United.
36 – Most Premier League goals scored in 38-game season
Mohamed Salah previously held the record with 32 goals scored during the 2017/18 Premier League season. Haaland broke it with his 33rd goal in a thumping win over Arsenal.
36 – Most Premier League goals scored by Man City player in one season
Man City’s all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero held the previous record with 26 Premier League goals scored across the 2014/15 season. Haaland broke it by scoring his 27th goal against Bournemouth.
36 – Most Premier League goals scored in one season under Pep Guardiola
Haaland scored his 22nd Premier League goal of the season against Tottenham Hotspur and thus became the highest Premier League goalscorer in one season under manager Pep Guardiola.
22 – Most Premier League home goals scored in one season
Sergio Aguero previously held the record with 16 home Premier League goals in one season. Haaland scored a hat-trick against Wolves to surpass the Argentinian.
14 – Most Premier League goals scored in first eight matches
During the Manchester derby, Haaland scored a hat-trick to take his tally of Premier League goals to 14 for the season. He achieved that in eight matches, the fastest ever.
12 – Most Champions League goals scored by English club player in one season
During the 2002/03 season, Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 12 Champions League goals in one season for Manchester United. Haaland equalled that record with a strike against Bayern Munich but failed to beat it in games against Real Madrid (semi-final) and Inter Milan (final).
11 – Most Premier League goals scored in first seven matches
No other player in Premier League history has scored more goals (11) in their first seven matches in the competition. Haaland secured the record with a finish against Wolves.

9 – Most Premier League goals scored in August
No other Premier League player has been more prolific than Haaland in the month of August. He scored nine goals in five games.

Effectively the same record as the one above, Haaland became the fastest player to score nine goals in a player’s first five Premier League games.
First English top-flight player since 1931 to score 50 goals in one season
Haaland netted a penalty against Fulham to reach 50 goals in all competitions. Aston Villa striker Tom Waring was the last player to achieve this feat more than 90 years ago.
First player to score 20 goals in Premier League before January
This record is very impressive considering the six-week break for the 2022 World Cup in November and December. Haaland achieved the feat on December 28 against Leeds United.
First player to score three home Premier League hat-tricks in a row
Haaland scored three Premier League hat-tricks consecutively at the Etihad Stadium against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Manchester United. No other player has achieved this milestone.
First player to register five goals and assists in a Manchester derby
In the long history of the Manchester derby between City and United, no player had scored or assisted five goals in one game until Haaland’s three goals and two assists.
First Man City player to score in seven consecutive Premier League matches
With Haaland’s goal against Southampton in October, he had scored in seven Premier League games in a row which no other Man City player had achieved.

Haaland’s first four Premier League away games for City came against West Ham United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Wolves. He scored in all four of them.

Haaland scored twice on his Premier League debut away to West Ham and then added a brace versus Sevilla on his Champions League group stage debut for the Citizens.

Lionel Messi previously held this record after scoring 25 goals in 28 games for Barcelona under Pep during the 2008/09 campaign. Haaland broke it by netting 25 goals in just 20 games for City.

Kevin Phillips previously owned this record when he scored 25 goals in 26 games for Sunderland during the 1999/00 Premier League season. Haaland did it in just 19 league games.

Once again, it was Phillips who held this record with 20 goals in 21 games. Haaland needed just 14 Premier League games to score 20 goals.
Fastest player to score 10 Premier League goals
Haaland reached double figures on the Premier League scoring charts in record time. He scored his 10th goal against Aston Villa in just his sixth match.
Fastest player to score four Premier League hat-tricks
Erling Haaland absolutely obliterated this record. Ruud van Nistelrooy previously held the record after scoring four hat-tricks in his first 65 Premier League games. Incredibly, Haaland needed only 19 games.
Fastest player to score three Premier League hat-tricks
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen scored three hat-tricks in his first 48 Premier League games but Haaland only needed eight games. Unbelievable!
Youngest player to score 30 Champions League goals
Kylian Mbappe was previously the youngest player to score 30 goals in the Champions League but Haaland scored five in one game against RB Leipzig to make the record his own. Haaland is 116 days younger than Mbappe.
Youngest player to score 25 Champions League goals
In just 20 Champions League games, Haaland scored 25 goals. The deadly striker is the youngest to ever score a quarter of century in the competition.
