Manchester City picked up their fifth Premier League win of the season on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Fulham.
After City found themselves 1-0 down in the 26th minute, a brace from Mateo Kovacic put the home side ahead in the early stages of the second half.
A stunning strike from Jeremy Doku and a late consolation goal from the visitors ended the match with a 3-2 scoreline at the Etihad Stadium.
This result has now put the Blues in second place just one point behind Liverpool and above Arsenal on goals scored, highlighting how tight things are at the top of the league table.
Even though Kovacic grabbed the headlines with his two goals, another player from Pep Guardiola’s starting XI delivered an even better overall performance than the Croatian.

Bernardo Silva outperformed Mateo Kovacic in Man City vs Fulham
Similarly to Kovacic, Bernardo Silva was an unused substitute in City’s 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League but completed the full 90 minutes against Fulham.
Prior to this game, the six-time Premier League champion had started and played every minute in five of the Manchester club’s six league matches, showcasing how important he is for the team.
Despite that, Silva shared his astonishment at the number of games City could end up playing this season.
How did Silva fare against Fulham?
Including the assist for Kovacic’s second goal, Silva made six key passes throughout the game, more than any other City player on the day.
He also registered two shots at goal as well as successfully completing four of the seven dribbles he attempted.
From a defensive point of view, the Portuguese international won seven of the 11 ground duels he was involved in as well as making two tackles.
This display ultimately earned Silva, who City paid £43m to sign back in 2017, an overall match rating of 8.5/10 from SofaScore.
This rating made the 30-year-old the highest-rated City player on the day ahead of Kovacic (8.3/10) even though he bagged two of the home side’s three goals.
