Having won four successive Premier League titles and the Champions League in four out of his five seasons at the Etihad Stadium, Nathan Ake would be desperate to take Manchester City to the top again.

But the former AFC Bournemouth centre-back has every reason to feel at ease, as Pep Guardiola and Co seem to be doing whatever it takes to make this City side serial winners once again.

Manchester City are set to sign Rayan Cherki, a player who has the potential to be the signing of the summer.

Rayan Ait-Nouri could join Manchester City for £40 million as well.

Ahead of his move to the Premier League, the 26-year-old told Voetbal International that he has discussed his switch with his Dutch teammate Nathan Ake: “Here at Oranje, I’ve already talked to him [Ake] briefly about it. But it’s not that far yet.”

While Reijnders has green-lighted his move to Manchester City, the AC Milan midfielder went on to admit that he is currently waiting for the transfer to become official before he lines up with Ake.

“The clubs are still in talks. For me, it’s a waiting game now. I myself have been involved very little. My father does that.”

Reijnders, who is set to sign Manchester City for an initial fee of £46.3 million, according to journalist Simon Bajkowski also revealed that playing in the Premier League has been his lifelong dream.

“The Premier League is of course a great competition, that’s what you dream of as a little boy. I haven’t had any contact with Guardiola yet, that’s not on the agenda yet.”

Reijnders’ record alongside Nathan Ake for the Netherlands

Settling in at Manchester City could be a relatively straightforward task for Reijnders, considering he is pally with Ake, who signed for the Sky Blues back in 2020.

Ake is a popular figure at Manchester City and one of the senior figures in the dressing room.

Alongside his fellow countryman, the decorated defender will be hoping that at the very least, City challenge for the league title and the Champions League next season.

In tandem, Ake and Reijnders have played 14 games for the Netherlands.

Out of the 14 matches, the pair have won eight together, losing two and drawing four.

Both Ake and Reijnders will be hoping that their record as a duo for the Dutch national team pales in comparison to how they fare for Manchester City.

With Manchester City’s players fired up for next season, they very well could make winning a habit together.
