Kevin De Bruyne is back for Manchester City and he has looked encouragingly sharp so far off the bench, and he stands to make a big impact in the coming months.
The Belgian maestro recovered from a hamstring injury for which he required surgery, and is now set to play a big part in City’s hunt for more trophies this year.
De Bruyne is now ready to start matches again, and he could be in line to make his first since coming back against Burnley tonight.
City fans are elated about De Bruyne’s return. He is an incredibly special footballer, capable of doing things that no one else can do.
Ahead of his potential first start since returning, international manager Gary White raved over the 32-year-old…
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is ‘as close to a football genius as you can get’

Sky Sports have run a feature on De Bruyne ahead of the game with Burnley, which looked at the impact he made against Newcastle United in City’s last Premier League match.
De Bruyne came on and played for around 20 minutes, and completely turned that game on its head, scoring and then assisting Oscar Bobb in injury-time.
The feature includes quotes from Gary White, who is the manager of Taiwan. White voted for De Bruyne at the recent FIFA Best awards, where De Bruyne finished fourth, and it’s safe to say he absolutely loves the Belgian magician.
He said: “Kevin De Bruyne has everything that you are looking for in the modern footballer. For me, he is easily the most enjoyable player in the world to watch at the moment. I think he is very underrated, to be honest, as you can see by the votes.
“He is as close to a football genius as you can get. I am always excited to watch him play. He is like a silent assassin. His vision is just world-class. The range of pass, the ability to pick a pass, the detail, the weight, the feel. The way it sits up for players in their path.”
White added that De Bruyne is a player his son looks up to, and that he is ‘the best’.
A huge compliment
White has given De Bruyne some major compliments to Sky, and it’s clear he is a massive fan of his. He also said that when De Bruyne was out injured for City, it was the equivalent of taking Andres Iniesta and Xavi out of Pep Gaurdiola’s old Barcelona team.
But this level of praise is fully warranted.
Because De Bruyne is a simply remarkable footballer, and it’s now fairly easy to argue that he is the best midfielder the Premier League has ever seen. Realistically, he’s now rubbing shoulders with Thierry Henry as the best player to have graced the division, regardless of position.
