Craig Burley has said that it is virtually impossible that Julian Alvarez leaves Manchester City anytime soon.
Speaking to ESPN FC, the outspoken pundit was quizzed about whether the £100,000-a-week (Sport Rac) would leave the club in order to escape Erling Haaland’s shadow.
However, Craig Burley rubbished any suggestions of Julian Alvarez potentially looking for the exit door to depart Manchester City.
Craig Burley rules out Julian Alvarez exit to leave Erling Haaland’s shadow
Branded as ‘extraordinary’ by Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the World Cup winner has been one of the best players in the world on form this season.
However, much of the discourse in the previous campaign was centred around the Argentine would ever break into City’s XI, making his departure an inevitability at some point for many.
But Craig Burley believes that after becoming a crucial member of this Manchester City side now, Julian Alvarez would not even be contemplating an exit.

“He’s been one of the stars for them. It’s not like he’s parked his backside on the bench and he’s coming on for five minutes. He’s certainly not Kalvin Phillips. No, absolutely not”, he said.
Craig Burley also emphasized that Julian Alvarez has been in terrific touch for Manchester City.
“Somewhat to be in the shadows of Erling Haaland but he’s been playing in different positions now and he’s been in the team and more importantly, he’s been scoring some great goals and some important goals so no, absolutely not.”
“Julian Alvarez has had lots of game time and actually has been very, very good.”
Why would Julian Alvarez even consider leaving?
As Craig Burley said, Julian Alvarez is flying at Manchester City and more importantly, he now has an insight into how he would start in the same XI as Erling Haaland in the future.
It was a valid question to ask how the pair would play alongside each other, considering Haaland is set to start on most matchdays at least.
But with Alvarez thriving playing behind the Norwegian, his future is and should be set in stone at the Etihad Stadium.
