Pundit Danny Murphy has hailed Jeremy Doku following his performance in Manchester City’s 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth yesterday.
City were ruthless at the Etihad, and Doku put in a masterclass of a performance against the Cherries. The Belgian was at the heart of everything.
It was a statement win by City that sent the club top of the Premier League table, at least for the time being.
Doku assisted four of the six goals and also helped himself to one in what was easily his best display for City since his arrival for £55 million from Rennes.
The assist for Bernardo Silva’s beautiful second goal – which Pep Guardiola said was like something from Lionel Messi – was especially good.
And on last night’s Match of the Day, Doku came in for praise from Danny Murphy…
Danny Murphy lauds Jeremy Doku after stunning display vs Bournemouth

Inevitably, star of the show Doku was under the spotlight during last night’s Match of the Day, with Murphy raving about the electric star.
Bournemouth simply could not handle him.
Every time he got the ball, he looked to make something happen, and once again he lifted fans out of their seats.
Murphy said: “He was absolutely sensational. Doku popped up all over the pitch and was very dynamic and direct. He wants to take people on and really caused them problems with his positive running and thinking.
“End product is the key when you’re playing for the biggest clubs. When you play in a forward position, can you produce end product? His decision-making today was superb.
“The amazing thing with him is that he’s come in very recently and hit the ground running straight away.
“I think the arrival of Doku is key because he gives them something they don’t really have. That ability to dribble past people. Also, with (Riyad) Mahrez leaving, someone to add some numbers. A really positive start to his Manchester City career, today was arguably his best game.”
Defender Nathan Ake – who grabbed City’s sixth goal – also hailed Doku after the game, branding him ‘fantastic’.
Doku is so exhilarating to watch
What a performance this was from Doku, who is now starting to look very comfortable in a City shirt.
This was easily his best game since his arrival from Rennes, and it’s very exciting to think how he could develop in the coming months and years at the Etihad.
He is a serious livewire. His ability to stop the ball and square someone up, and then burst past them, is absolutely frightening.
Murphy is right – he does give the team something completely different, and something not really seen since the Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling days.
Surely, Pep Guardiola is going to find it very difficult to leave him out of his starting XI moving forward.
