Manchester City are looking for new midfielders this summer, but Florian Wirtz is no longer in the running.
Pep Guardiola was said to be keen on signing Wirtz as Kevin De Bruyne prepares to leave Manchester City.
However, City decided not to sign Wirtz as they reckon he’d go on to cost around £252million in total, including wages.
Nevertheless, Manchester City have some alternatives on their wish-list, including AC Milan star Tijjani Reijnders.
Now, an update has emerged about Reijnders which has led to City fans demanding his signing as soon as possible.

Manchester City fans hail Tijjani Reijnders after Serie A Midfielder of the Season award win
Tijjani Reijnders has impressed in Serie A this season, registering 10 goals and five assists for Italy’s ninth-placed side.
The Rossoneri haven’t had a great season, but Reijnders has stood out – so much so, in fact, that he has won an award this season.
On Friday, the Serie A media team revealed that Reijnders has won the Best Midfielder accolade for the 2024/25 campaign.
The fact that a midfielder playing for a team currently in mid-table has won the Midfielder of the Season award has wowed City fans.
“Considering Milan are 9th that’s an absolutely nuts achievement,” one City fan wrote on X.
Another said: “This is actually a Galactico, he’s gonna cook for us.”
The praise kept coming, with one fan saying: “We need this transfer to happen asap especially after this Wirtz saga.”
Another wrote: “Get him snapped up before it’s too late.”
And another said: “Types of players we should be signing if we want to maintain our level.”
Fellow midfielder Scott McTominay, who won the Serie A title with Napoli, bagged the Player of the Year award.
The latest around Manchester City and Tijjani Reijnders
Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that City have begun talks with Milan over Reijnders, who is now their “top target”.
The transfer insider said he expects negotiations to continue into next week, with an opening bid set to arrive sooner rather than later.
Romano recently claimed that City were preparing an offer for Reijnders in excess of €50million (£42million).
However, it has been reported that Milan would like a fee in excess of £57million for Reijnders.
