The Manchester City talent has been showered with praise since his heroics on Saturday, with Anthony Gordon branding him as the ‘GOAT (greatest of all time)’ and Joe Hart telling him that he ‘smashed it.’

Even the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak singled the youngster out for not having shipped a single goal during the tournament.

Adedire Mebude also jokingly likened James Trafford to Edwin van der Sar, as he tweeted, “Edwin van der Trafford”, followed by a number of laughing emojis.

James Trafford deserves all the plaudits that are coming his way

While Adedire Mebude was clearly having a laugh, even if he was praising him simultaneously, the England hero merits the appreciation that has come his way.

After he was linked with a £14 million transfer to Burnley, many questioned how it was even fathomable that such a fee was paid towards a goalkeeper that had only played in League One at club level.

Several fans even mocked Trafford, as they were clearly unaware of how gifted a prospect he is, who Cole Palmer claimed he has always believed will eventually become ‘world-class’ via Manchester Evening News.

Now that James Trafford has made his sceptics look clueless, it is lovely to see that he is being hailed by fans, pundit and his teammates after his unforgettable showing for the Young Lions.
