Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom lavished praise on to Manchester City youngster James Trafford after his heroics in the U-21 Euros final.

The 20-year-old saved Abel Ruiz’s last-gasp penalty, followed by yet another incredible stop to lead his nation to glory on Saturday.

Rishi Sunak took to Twitter to laud James Trafford for his unforgettable saves for England against Spain.

The Manchester City youngster, who was first linked with a move to Burnley in June is set to sign for the club in a deal worth £19 million (£14 million plus £5 million in add-ons), as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Blues have also inserted a buy-back clause while also having a 20% sell-on clause in place in a potential transfer that raised eyebrows amongst many behind how the club look likely to generate such a sizable fee for such an inexperienced goalkeeper.

However, James Trafford, who Cole Palmer claimed could become ‘world-class’ one day via MEN made a mockery of his doubters in Georgia by producing the ultimate clutch moment in Georgia, leading even Rishi Sunak to give him a special mention.

“They’ve done it! Congratulations, England U21s on becoming European champions. And to go a whole tournament without conceding – James Trafford, take a bow.”

Smart from Manchester City to insert a buy-back clause in the James Trafford deal

It takes a special young player like James Trafford to get someone of the stature of Rishi Sunak to go out of his way to sing his praises.

Clearly, the Englishman is an incredible talent, blessed with astounding shotstopping abilities, effortlessness in possession and natural leadership qualities.

While Ederson Moraes is unlikely to lose his spot as City’s No.1 anytime soon, if James Trafford continues to progress like he is, the club would be happy to bring him back from Burnley to contend for a starting place.

Losing out on a talent such as him on a permanent basis would have been a blow, as Trafford’s ceiling is well and truly limitless.
