Savio could officially become a Manchester City player in January – after a deal to sign Claudio Echeverri was agreed with River Plate.
That is according to SPORT in Spain.
So, what is the latest on Savio and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
Savio could officially join Manchester City
Well, this is a unique situation.
Savio is technically a Manchester City player in waiting, having been signed by the City Football Group from Atlético Mineiro for €6.5m (£5.5m) back in June 2022.
However, the Brazilian officially has no association with Manchester City – the City Football Group assigned his details to Troyes before loaning him to Girona.
Now, however – according to SPORT – Savio could be formally registered as a Manchester City player this month after impressing in La Liga.

The South American has scored four goals – while also providing five assists – across 18 appearances to help Girona sit second in La Liga.
SPORT believe the City Football Group intend to change the forward’s ownership this month.
It comes after another Spanish news outlet in Mundo Deportivo claimed in November that Savio is highly likely to become a Manchester City player if he continues to shine, something that now appears set to happen.
Savio unlikely to stay at Manchester City
In our view, Savio – who has been compared to Arsenal No.11 Gabriel Martinelli – is likely to stay on loan at Girona, even if he officially becomes registered as a Manchester City player this month.
Manchester City will surely be keen to avoid disturbing the 19-year-old’s progress in Spain, as he is unlikely to get much first team football under Pep Guardiola right now.

That is also why Manchester City are expected to loan Echeverri back to River Plate after sealing a £21.7m deal for the Argentinian wonderkid.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at the Etihad Stadium – another prodigy in Finlay Gorman could also be officially announced in January after his farewell message to Leeds United.
