Manchester City are now looking to sign Lautaro Lopez – after already snapping up two other talents from Argentina in Julian Alvarez and Claudio Echeverri.
That is according to TyC Sports.
So, what is the situation involving Lautaro Lopez and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
Manchester City want Lautaro Lopez
Well, Txiki Begiristain has seemingly decided to set his sights on snapping up Argentina’s greatest talents right now.
A £26m deal was recently agreed with River Plate for the aforementioned Echeverri, which is where Alvarez was signed for just £14.1m in January 2022.
Now – according to TyC Sports – Manchester City are looking at another precocious Argentine in Lopez.

The South American news outlet claim that the City Football Group are considering a move to offer the prodigy from Buenos Aires a four-and-a-half year contract, once a fee is agreed with Vélez.
Lopez – who is just 18 years of age – is contracted to the Argentinian outfit until December 2026.
Manchester City fans should be excited
In our view, this Argentinian recruitment drive from Begiristain should fill Manchester City fans with a lot of excitement.
Argentina are the reigning world champions after lifting the World Cup for a third time in 2022 – and football in that part of the planet is quite clearly on the up.
Begiristain – arguably the best Director of Football in Europe right now – is no fool, and the fact the Spaniard has chosen to pounce on gems such as Echeverri for a large fee speaks volumes.

After all, you only need to look at how well Alvarez has performed at the Etihad Stadium to see just how much value there is in targeting Argentina for recruitment.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation – if any deal is struck to sign Lopez, we would presume that Manchester City will loan him back to Vélez for a while, as the Citizens have done with Echeverri at River Plate.
