Ajax striker Chuba Akpom has settled which midfielder is better out of the two: Kevin De Bruyne or Steven Gerrard.
Speaking to GOAL, the former Middlesborough goalscorer was quizzed about which player out of the player is superior.
Instead of refusing to answer, Chuba Akpom had a clear preference when presented the names of Kevin De Bruyne and Steven Gerrard.
Chuba Akpom settles Kevin De Bruyne vs Steven Gerrard
Branded as ‘magnificent’ by Alan Shearer, the Belgian superstar is in the debate for being the greatest midfielder to have ever graced the Premier League.
However, many still believe that the Liverpool legend is the most well-rounded midfielder English football has ever seen.
But when Chuba Akpom was asked to decide whether Kevin De Bruyne or Steven Gerrard is better, he instantly answered, “De Bruyne.”

While the Arsenal academy graduate hesitated when quizzed about the better player between Eden Hazard and Riyad Mahrez, he was sure about the Manchester City icon having surpassed the Englishman.
Kevin De Bruyne is the greatest Premier League midfielder of all time
While Steven Gerrard is certainly in the conversation for the esteemed title, Chuba Akpom is right in saying that the 32-year-old can now be considered better.
The former VFL Wolfsburg talisman ticks every single box that one needs to in order to be considered as the absolute best of the best.
Quality, consistently, big moments, longevity, silverware; you name it and De Bruyne has it in his locker.
While Gerrard perhaps had more to his game from a defensive sense, De Bruyne is no slouch himself and going forward, he is a far better creator and overall attacking threat than him as well.
Not just the now-Al Ittihad boss but no midfielder in Premier League history fits the criteria to be labelled as the best of all time like the treble-winner does.
And what is frightening is that Kevin De Bruyne is yet to have hung up his boots.
