Alan Myers shares what he’s now heard about Nathan Ake live from Everton’s training ground

The future of Nathan Ake at Manchester City remains uncertain with hours left in the summer transfer window.

The Dutch star has been an unused substitute in two of City’s opening three Premier League matches, and that may have been three had Rayan Ait-Nouri not picked up an injury against Tottenham.

As a result, several clubs have shown an interest in the defender in recent weeks, with Everton one of the clubs keen on bringing Ake to Merseyside, as David Moyes looks to put the final touches on his squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

With just hours left to go in the summer transfer window, Sky Sports’ Alan Myers shares what he has just heard about the Dutch star from within Everton’s training ground.

Nathan Ake is unlikely to join Everton from Man City

It was reported last week that Moyes was ruling out a move for Ake as Everton focus on other areas of their squad, and that is what Myers is hearing at the Toffees’ training ground, although it is a transfer to keep an eye on.

“There’s a lot of talk about Nathan Ake possibly coming in from Man City. As far as I’m told, nothing is happening on that one right now,” the reporter said on Sky Sports News.

“That’s from both Manchester and Liverpool sources; that one seems off, and it might not happen. We will keep an eye on it.”

There has also been interest in Ake from Tottenham, but like Everton, it remains to be seen if the North London club make a move for the 30-year-old before the deadline.

Both have an interest in strengthening their backlines, but with very little time to get a deal over the line, both Premier League clubs are unlikely to push for Ake at this stage.

Why Man City are now likely to reject any Nathan Ake offer

Despite Ake not having a key role at the Etihad Stadium, if an official offer for Ake does arrive over the coming hours, Man City are now likely to turn it down.

That’s because the landscape has changed at the Manchester club, with Manuel Akanji now set to leave for Inter Milan. Guardiola will not want to lose both centre-backs, which makes a deal for any interested party harder to complete.

From Ake’s point of view, his minutes will increase once the other competitions start and the schedule starts producing games every three days.

With the 30-year-old being able to play as a centre-back and at right-back, he is a useful player to have, which Guardiola is more than aware of.
