Kevin De Bruyne was in fine fettle against Crystal Palace – and Alan Shearer gave the Manchester City maestro a serious compliment last night following his performance.
The 33-year-old was back starting for City against Palace at the Etihad Stadium, and was looking to be more impactful than against Manchester United the weekend before.
It was a tough slog against United, not just for him but for the whole team.
But against Palace, he really was back to his best, and at the heart of everything for Manchester City, as the team came from behind to win 5-2.
De Bruyne finished the game with a goal and an assist to his name.
And on Match of the Day, the star came in for high praise from Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer says he’d love to have played with Kevin De Bruyne

De Bruyne has been a pleasure to watch over the years in a City shirt.
And the thing he’ll be remembered for the most is his ability to create.
De Bruyne’s vision and passing range have been second to none, and he is capable of creating opportunities that other players simply cannot.
On Match of the Day last night, De Bruyne was the focus of analysis by the punditry team, and Alan Shearer gave the Belgian potentially the highest possible compliment.
He said: “There’s no doubt about it – a Premier League giant he’s been.
“If there was one player I wish I could have played with in the same team, it would have been him. A centre-forward’s dream!”
Given Shearer is the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer with 260 strikes to his name, this is some serious praise for De Bruyne.
Micah Richards insists De Bruyne can still play at Premier League level
City fans were recently left gutted by Pep Guardiola’s admission about De Bruyne that it was the club’s decision not to extend his contract.
Some feel that De Bruyne still has a lot to offer – and Micah Richards is also of that opinion.
Speaking on Match of the Day, the former City full-back insisted: “I think he still can play at this level. I think if he had more legs around him, he could definitely do what he did today.
“Look at the stats from today’s game, he was top or second in absolutely everything. What a player he’s been, absolute legend.”
Many will likely agree with Richards’ sentiments, and certainly, performances like the one against Palace will lead many to question Pep Guardiola.
