Manchester City could make it four Premier League wins out of four this weekend.

Following the recent international break, City will be taking on Brentford at the Etihad Stadium and potentially take a step closer to securing a fifth consecutive league trophy.

Prior to the recent round of Nations League fixtures, Pep Guardiola’s side put themselves at the top of the Premier League table by winning all three of their opening matches of the campaign and scoring more goals (9) than any other side in the division in the process.

With the Blues now aiming to keep their place at the top of the table, one pundit and former top-flight star who knows what it takes to score lots of goals and win titles, has shared his thoughts on how City’s latest outing could go.

Alan Shearer shares prediction for Man City vs Brentford

While previewing this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures in a recent article for Metro, Alan Shearer said this about City’s home match against Brentford.

He said: “Man City will have too much for Brentford. Brentford have been reasonable up to now and they handled the [Ivan] Toney situation really well, got decent money for him, but I don’t see them getting anything from this game.

“Erling Haaland netted on international duty following his seven goals to start the season so good luck to Brentford out there. Home win.”

City will be a tough test for Brentford

Out of the three Premier League matches against Brentford at the Etihad, City have won two and lost the other, scoring four goals and conceding two in total.

While the Blues have won all three of their league games, Thomas Frank’s side have won two and lost one, finding the back of the net five times and conceding four goals along the way.

In a recent press conference ahead of Saturday’s game, Frank labelled City as the best team in the world, which goes to show how difficult he thinks this match will be for his side.

Having yet to keep a clean sheet this season, it’s understandable why Shearer thinks City will secure another win this weekend.
