Alexander Isak has now revealed that David Silva – who left Manchester City in 2020 – is his greatest ever teammate.

The Newcastle No.14 made the comments when speaking to Sky Sports.

So, what did Alexander Isak say about David Silva? Let’s take a look…

What Alexander Isak said about David Silva

Well, the Sweden international heaped praise on the Manchester City legend – having played alongside him at Real Sociedad.

Isak said: “David Silva, at Real Sociedad. He just has that quality that you don’t really see too often. It was a pleasure to play with him.”

Manchester City fans will surely agree with the 24-year-old here.

Silva possessed a playmaking ability that we have rarely seen in the history of football – hence why he picked up the nickname Merlin, referring to his wizardry in a No.10 role.

The Spaniard impressively registered 140 assists in 436 appearances for Manchester City, chipping in with 77 goals of his own as well.

As far as creative midfielders go, the Premier League may never see another player of Silva’s kind.

Manchester City could sign player compared to David Silva – coincidentally from Real Sociedad

On the topic of Real Sociedad, there is one player Manchester City are allegedly considering a move for – Takefusa Kubo.

A story from Mundo Deportivo in Spain claims that the Citizens are monitoring the Japan international as Pep Guardiola looks to add a new wide creator to his squad.

Interestingly, Kubo has actually been compared to David Silva by Unai Emery – who worked alongside the Manchester City target during his time at Villarreal.

The Aston Villa boss told Cadena Ser’s El Laguero: “Kubo has similar characteristics to David Silva. He is improving little by little as he arrives in the area for the final pass.”

While the Japanese star is a superb footballer, it will take a lot for him – and any other player for that matter – to emulate Silva’s efforts at the Etihad Stadium, to say the very least.
