Manchester City now want to sign Takefusa Kubo – a player who has been compared to David Silva by Unai Emery.
It was Mundo Deportivo who claimed that the Citizens are scouting the Japan international.
So, what has been said about Manchester City target Takefusa Kubo? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, this would be a very exciting addition for Manchester City.
Kubo has enjoyed a superb 2023/24 campaign so far, scoring five goals across just ten appearances in La Liga, while also providing two assists.
The 22-year-old has been so impressive, that his efforts were even compared to Jude Bellingham by Spanish football expert Terry Gibson.
Aside from the England international, Kubo has been compared to someone Manchester City fans hold close to their hearts – Silva.
As aforesaid, it was Aston Villa boss Emery who likened the Real Sociedad No.14 to the Spaniard.

Speaking to Cadena Ser’s El Laguero, the 51-year-old said: “Kubo has similar characteristics to David Silva. He is improving little by little as he arrives in the area for the final pass.”
Emery worked with Kubo at Villarreal, with the Japanese sensation making 19 appearances under his guidance, so the Spaniard is well placed to comment on the Manchester City target.
Kubo could replace Mahrez at Manchester City
Interestingly, Kubo is a very similar player to Riyad Mahrez, so Pep Guardiola may have earmarked the Kawasaki-born forward as a long term replacement for the Algeria international.
Both forwards tend to line up on the right flank, where they cut inside on their stronger left foot.

At the age of just 22, Kubo is already a phenomenal talent, so it would be interesting to see just how effective the €80m rated (£70m) talent could become under Pep Guardiola.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City scout Kubo.
