Ally McCoist has heaped praise on Erling Haaland.
In an interview with DR Sports on their YouTube channel, the pundit was quizzed about whether he would outscore Haaland in the Champions League in his prime.
When Joe Cole was asked which player would end up as the 2023/2024 Champions League’s top scorer, he instantly named the Norwegian international.
Ally McCoist says Erling Haaland is just at a “different level”
The Leeds-born striker finished as the competition’s top scorer last season for Pep Guardiola’s side, with an impressive 12 goals to his name.
Ally McCoist acknowledged that even when he was at his peak, he would be unable to outscore Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland in the Champions League.

“Haaland.”
“No, don’t get me wrong, I’m not slowing back myself but he’s a different level at the moment, I’ve got to say”, he told DR Sports on their YouTube channel.
What is scary about Erling Haaland is that he is not even in his prime yet
The fact that a legendary goalscorer like Ally McCoist also accepts that outscoring Erling Haaland is simply far too difficult a task is an indicator of his special eye for the back of the net.
Having almost completed club football at 23 years of age as well, not even many of the greats had the career Haaland has up until now.
But in terms of his own game, despite looking like one of the most devastating goalscorers football has ever seen, Erling Haaland is a couple of years away from hitting his absolute prime.
Despite how magnificent a striker the treble-winner is, one could still pinpoint certain areas of improvement in his arsenal.
Yet, many would crown Haaland as the best in the world in his position.
If Erling Haaland is already unstoppable, imagine the level of striker he could become a few years down the line.
Just the prospect of a more experienced and improved Haaland is a frightening thought for defenders around the world.
