Paul Dickov has claimed that Erling Haaland has the ability to singlehandedly win games for Manchester City.
Such was the case against Brentford as Haaland broke the deadlock for his side on a night when City did not have to be at their imperious best to get the all-important three points.
Perhaps this is one of the many reasons why Vitaliy Mykolenko believes the Norwegian international is the best player in the Premier League currently.
Paul Dickov says Erling Haaland can win games for Manchester City singlehandedly
When it comes to match-winners, it is not as if they produce a moment of magic every single time they score a goal or provide an assist.
Perhaps Thomas Frank has a point when claiming that if not for Kristoffer Ajer’s slip, Erling Haaland would not have been able to open the scoring for the hosts on Tuesday night.
But at the end of the day, such players have a knack for finding a way to ensure that their team wins the game by any means necessary.
During Manchester City’s 1-0 win against Brentford, that is exactly what Erling Haaland did, which Paul Dickov lauded.

“When you’re not at your best and you’ve got a striker like Erling Haaland up top, you know you’ve always got a chance of winning the game”, he told Sky Sports.
It is not a coincidence that Haaland has managed to rescue City or any team he has played for during his career on a consistent basis.
The £375,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man is able to pull off goals like his acrobatic finish against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last season.
Or Erling Haaland’s incredible overhead kick to bag his second goal of the day in a 4-0 win against Southampton.
But simultaneously, in the same season, the 23-year-old bagged a last-gasp winner from 12 yards out against Fulham, which perhaps should have been saved by Bernd Leno.
Erling Haaland constantly finds a way to ensure his team get over the line and that is a quality one associates with the greats like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as well as world-class performers like Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe nowadays.
At this point, to associate such a trait with luck would be misguided, in our view.
