Ange Postecoglou insists Pep Guardiola will constantly be pushing himself to improve and get better and better.
It seems like the Spaniard is not even close to burning out, as he recently hinted at extending his contract at Manchester City.
While many believe the prime of Pep Guardiola’s career emerged at Barcelona, he continues to find ways of being dominant in England.
Ange Postecoglou insists Pep Guardiola will keep getting better
As Rio Ferdinand recently emphasised, the Catalan could win his fourth Premier League title on the trot this season, which is an unprecedented feat in English football.
The £378,846-a-week manager has managed to motivate his Manchester City players to go for glory once again, despite winning the treble last season.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou believes waiting for managers like Pep Guardiola to depart England to become title challengers would be a hopeful rather a practical outlook.

“If that’s your only hope, waiting for the top ones to slip, I just don’t think you get there. I really don’t. I’d rather them be at their best and we match them, get up to their level and exceed it, rather than hope they slip up. I just don’t think that’s a strategy. It is more of a wish.”
“We got a real good indicator the other night and to be fair to the lads we hung in there, fought hard but we were playing against probably the best side in the world at the moment and there was a difference between us, for sure. If we’re hoping they will come back to us, rather than us try to get to them, you’re chasing a lost cause”, he said (via Football.London).
Ange Postecoglou believes Pep Guardiola is the type of manager to constantly look to improve as time progresses.
“With those kind of things, it depends. It depends on everyone else. The one thing you know is managers like Pep [Guardiola] and Jurgen [Klopp], they’re not going to stand still. It’s not like it’s a stationary target you’re trying to hit. They’re going to keep pushing the envelope to be better and improve.”
“It’s up to everyone else to match that and get up to that and try to exceed it and not shy away from the challenge. They have been very, very dominant teams for quite a while now, but there’s only one way to break that cycle and that is for others to rise to that challenge.”
Ange Postecoglou has hit the nail on the head
Considering Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City after his contract expires in 2025, one can understand why the likes of Ange Postecoglou would be hoping and praying that such becomes the case.
However, it is impossible to predict the future in football and as a result, a team like Spurs must do everything in their power to compete with City, regardless of which manager is in charge of them.
Ultimately, whether or not Pep Guardiola decides to extend his contract at the Etihad Stadium should not determine another team’s ambitions.
