Manchester City have arguably the toughest possible fixture ahead of them this weekend.
Having failed to win any of their six previous games across all competitions, City will be travelling to Anfield to take on Liverpool for the first time in the Premier League this season on Sunday.
As things stand, the Reds are eight points above the champions at the top of the league table.
With that in mind, Pep Guardiola won’t want to see his first meeting with Arne Slot end with a home win.
However, the recent run of form City have been on suggests that they haven’t been in the right sort of shape that would make them favourites to secure what would be a much-needed win against Liverpool.
Ahead of this big showdown, the new Liverpool boss has made a claim about his upcoming opponent which should interest a lot of City supporters.

Arne Slot makes Pep Guardiola claim ahead of Man City vs Liverpool
While assessing Sunday’s big game in his latest press conference, Slot had this to say regarding City’s poor run of form and Guardiola’s ability to fix his side’s issues.
He said: “I don’t think anyone in last 8 or 9 would say City – home or away – the word easy comes to mind. Easier? Not at all.
“Everyone looks at their results but if you face them and that is what we do, you analyse it. At Brighton could have scored 2 or 3 and got beat, same v Spurs. Against Feyenoord, that has not happened many times, they dominated.
“They are still a very good team and one of the reasons why Pep is the best in the world, he always comes up with solutions for his problems.
“One might be Rodri is out now but he will come up with a solution, hopefully, it is after Sunday.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Pep comes up with another brilliant idea. He started inverted full-backs and centre-backs as a number six.
“So I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes up with something to make his team even stronger, so that is why he inspires so many. When he did it we thought he was crazy and then we tried it as it was a brilliant idea.
“Let’s wait and see. If anyone can come up with something new it’s him.”
Kyle Walker shared how Guardiola will prepare for Liverpool clash
In the build-up to Sunday’s big clash, Kyle Walker shared how Guardiola will be preparing for this latest Anfield test, saying this on the matter.
“Listen, I will say this now and I’m not lying, Pep prepares for every game the same.”
“But the lads, the emotion that’s running throughout, it’s bigger. You can feel it, you know, it’s a must-win game, you know, take points off of the people that are going to be fighting at the top with us. You know, you need to be taking points off of these teams and hopefully we can do that.”

Given the experience Guardiola has when it comes to guiding City through tough moments, getting the best out of his players and ultimately leading the club to various trophies, this shows why Slot has the belief in the Catalan that he can get his side back on track.
Moving forward, despite Slot’s wishes, if Guardiola can get his side to secure what would be a crucial victory on Sunday, this could be the perfect springboard for them to put their terrible form behind them and get back on the front foot.
