Arsene Wenger makes prediction about Pep Guardiola after winning Champions League with Man City

Arsene Wenger believes Pep Guardiola will already be looking to change up his Manchester City team, after winning the Champions League, and has suggested the Spaniard will actually be annoyed to celebrate.

City ran out 1-0 winners against Inter last night, with Rodri scoring the only goal of the game.

The Spaniard popped up in the second-half to slot home after good work from Manuel Akanji and Bernardo Silva.

City did not have it easy in Istanbul.

The Italian giants were a very tough nut to crack, and Simone Inzaghi’s side gave a good account of themselves.

But in the end City’s quality told, and Ederson was especially brilliant to stop the game from going to extra-time and potential penalties.

Guardiola has finally done it. He has delivered the trophy City fans have wanted the most, and he can now relax. Although former manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t believe he’ll be doing that.

Arsene Wenger makes prediction about Pep Guardiola following Champions League final

Speaking straight after last night’s final, former Arsenal boss Wenger gave some thoughts about what Guardiola will be contemplating now.

He’s just won the Champions League trophy.

Some have suggested that doing that kind of ‘completes’ things for Guardiola at City.

But Wenger doesn’t believe for one second the Spaniard could be about to leave the club. He reckons he will already be looking to change up his team and go again.

And he also suggested that Pep would actually even have been a bit annoyed to celebrate last night.

Wenger said on beIN Sports: “He has a top level competitive mentality. He will wake up, he will celebrate – he will be annoyed to celebrate. Because I feel, observing him tonight, it was more a relief, you know? A deep joy, certainly, because he knows now he goes into another category. But it was a relief more than a crazy happiness. he knows that was needed for him.

“I must say, I was thinking as well… what do you do now at City? Do you go for a new challenge? Motivate yourself for a new challenge? Or do you stay and take advantage of the credit you have.”

Pep Guardiola will surely have a day off being competitive today, as Arsene Wenger makes claim

It is crazy to think Guardiola would be waking up anything other than absolutely elated today.

No, his side were not at their sparkling best last night. But that really does not matter.

He’s finally achieved the most important thing. And he has delivered a Treble to boot.

We know Guardiola is extremely competitive.

But this is surely a reach from Wenger to suggest that Guardiola could be annoyed to celebrate.
