Joe Hart sends message to Ederson after heroics in Champions League final

Manchester City have finally won the Champions League, beating Inter 1-0 in Istanbul – and praise is high today for Ederson.

Pep Guardiola’s side sealed an historic Treble last night, with Rodri’s goal in the second-half the difference.

City were far from their sparkling best at the Ataturk Stadium. It was clear that nerves were playing a part.

The loss of Kevin De Bruyne to injury was far from ideal for City, with the playmaker saying after the game that he had ‘snapped’ him hamstring.

But thankfully, Rodri stepped up for City, producing a lovely finish.

But City would not be Champions of Europe without Ederson, who came in clutch last night. And his efforts were lapped up on social media.

Ederson was one of those players who made a nervy start last night.

In the first-half he played a couple of loose passes, and also flapped at a high ball.

But in the second-half, he bailed City out first when Manuel Akanji left a ball for Lautaro Martinez to latch on top.

And then, he made one of the most important saves of his career, somehow denying Romelu Lukaku from close range.

After the game, Ederson posted on Instagram and hundreds of fans commented to congratulate him.

And one of those was former City stopper Joe Hart, now of Celtic, who left three clapping emojis.

Ederson deserves massive credit for his contributions in Manchester City’s Champions League win

Ederson has been questioned at times this season.

But he more than played his part last night.

That save from Lukaku was absolutely incredible. The Belgian should have scored, but the Brazilian was in the right place at the right time.

Rodri got the winning goal, but the South American stopped the game from going to extra-time and potentially penalties.

Had we gone there, then it’s very possible City would have collapsed under the pressure.

It is lovely to see former City star Hart sending his congratulations, too.
