Aymeric Laporte has played with and against a lot of top-class players throughout his career.

With 449 club appearances to his name, 180 of which have been for Manchester City, the defender has come up against some of the best players in world football.

Having played a role for Spain in the 2024 European Championship, Laporte has now shared his thoughts on someone he has faced off against on the international stage, who has also been recently linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Aymeric Laporte says he’s wowed by Man City-linked Jamal Musiala

In a recent interview with The Athletic prior to Spain’s quarter-final match against Germany, Laporte had this to say about Jamal Musiala on the subject of which players in the German squad stand out to him.

He said: “I would highlight [Jamal] Musiala as well. He is a different player, a sort of dribbler like Lamine [Yamal].

“The times I’ve played against him, I could see on the pitch he has sparks that show you he’s different class.”

Musiala would be a star signing for City

Back in April, it was reported by The Guardian that the Manchester club are plotting a summer transfer move for the Bayern Munich midfielder.

During his time with the German club, the 21-year-old has made 163 senior appearances across all competitions, scoring 43 goals and delivering 31 assists in the process.

Described by Eric Dier as one of the best talents he’s ever seen, Musiala scored three goals in Germany’s first four games of Euro 2024 before they came across Laporte’s Spain in the quarter-finals.

Now that the Bayern star has got the seal of approval from Laporte, who has played against the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe among others, this only further increases how much of an exciting signing Musiala could be for City.
