Juan Roman Riquelme – Vice President of Boca Juniors – has been speaking about Valentin Barco, amid reports he is joining Manchester City.

It was Martin Liberman – a respected South American journalist – who claimed that the Argentinian is moving to the Etihad Stadium in January, and Pep Guardiola has already sent him a fitness plan.

So, what has Juan Roman Riquelme said about Manchester City target Valentin Barco? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 19-year-old is a precocious talent.

However, Barco has been delivering some inconsistent performances for Boca Juniors recently amid plenty of transfer speculation, and Riquelme has now called for patience with the teenager.

Pagina12 quote the 45-year-old as saying: “You have to be patient with Barco, he has a contract until December 2024. He had a very high moment and now he is alternating good games with bad games. It is logical at his age. He has to stabilise, it happens to everyone.”

There was – clearly – no mention of Liberman’s claim about the South American prodigy moving to Manchester City, although it is interesting to hear that his performances are up and down as Guardiola allegedly takes an interest.

Manchester City certainly seem keen on a new left-back amid Valentin Barco rumours

Whether Barco is moving to Manchester City or not, it certainly seems as if Guardiola wants a new left-back at the Etihad Stadium, as the teenager is not the only one to be linked.

According to 90min, the Citizens are also taking a look at Inter Milan No.32 Federico Dimarco, after the left wing-back enjoyed a stunning start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Furthermore, there was said to be interest in Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde during the summer transfer window just gone, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at the Etihad Stadium, as Guardiola appears likely to sign a new left-back in the near future.
